I have read different reviews about this antenna, some favorable and some not so favorable, from Bestbuy.com and Walmart.com. Personally, I have not tried this particular RCA antenna; however, I have tried others by RCA, Philips, and Monoprice.com and receive the same five channels. I think I may try a smart antenna if I can find it locally or through a merchant that has a good return policy.
Sorry, the price for this antenna has been increased.
Just purchased this RCA 1500 antenna a few days ago for $30; it's replacing an older RCA 1251 that I purchased 3 years ago for $30...The older 1251 is working fine - however I wanted a newer/improved model to capture the signals better which so far the 1500 is doing quite well.
The RCA-1500. I have 2 of them - one is mounted high on a north facing vaulted wall (inside) and the other is outside about 12 feet up on a pole. The one inside gets 83 stations with an average meter reading of around 74 and the one outside gets 90 stations with an average meter reading of around 91. The TV picture is crystal clear on both sets and I wonder how long it will be before the outside one will start to deteriorate. There was a bit of fiddling on the one inside to find the best reception. I'd love to know what's inside one of these units.
