Product Details: The Winegard HD7698P is has the highest signal gain out of all five of the HD769 series Winegard digital antennas. This antenna has the ability to pick up signals from as far as 70 and 60 miles away for VHF and UHF signals respectively. Like the others it is also specifically tuned for channels 7-69 and specifically for outdoor use. If you want a cheaper digital antenna because you don't need one that is so greatly amplified then you can check out the others (in decending order of gain ability and price): HD 7697P, HD 7696P, HD 7695P, an HD 7694P. The 7698P has an MSRP of $190 but can be purchased for a special low price by following the link above.Product Specifications Review

The Bottom Line: The Winegard HD76978P comes with the highest gain and is also the most expensive. It is a very powerful antenna and can help greatly in areas where signal strength is a serious concern. It could also be a huge waster of money in an area where not nearly the maximum gain is actually needed. If you are interested in purchasing this antenna it would be a great buy. We recommend that you check out more info at the manufacturer website before making your purchase.

I live in an "RF disadvantaged" location in NH vis a vis the Boston Channels 2,4,5, and 7. Those transmitting antenna are 43 miles away. Light of sight calculates to 77 miles (I know my alt above sea level and the stations'). There is another complication: a hill that is 100ft higher than my antenna within a couple of miles of me in line with the station. I was using a Radio Shack yagi from built in the 1970s. Also used amp, coaxial, and rotor. Life in the analog world was great but I was slammed by the digital age---spotty reception of the channels mentioned.
After much research I purchase the Wingard HD7698P. It is fabulous! High gain and diretionality. With the hill in the way, it is miracle that I receive the signal at all. I highly recommend the HD7698P for difficult locations such as mine.----WFC Merrimack, NH
