i used to be able to change channels with my digital stream remote but now i can't. Any suggestions??
ReplyDeletethanks
ann
I am getting closed caption text on the screen that I don't want. I have gone to the CC menu, selected "display" and then "off," but I still have the on-screen text. I dis a "factory reset" on the menu, too, but still have the on-screen text. What do I do?
ReplyDeleteWe have connected the box and we get the digital stream logo on the tv but it will not go into the setup menu. We can change channels with the old remote and it shows them but we cannot setup the TV
ReplyDeletedon't understand what is going on. the little green light just blinks off and on and i can't do anything with this converter. the troubleshooting booklet was of no use. worked fine up until 2 days ago...what is going on??
ReplyDeleteHaving the same problem! On the weekend when they are closed. Were u able to trouble shoot yours?
DeleteI have the same problem
ReplyDeleteMy remote used to work perfect with my TV, but suddenly it doesn't work anymore, and it doesn't respond when I try to reprogram it, either with the codes provided in the install guide, or the code search option.
ReplyDeleteAlso having trouble, green light just blinks and I can't use the box. Where can I get help!!!
ReplyDeletework fine yesterday 12/11 today 12/12 not so much
I have the same problem. The green light justs keeps blinking.
ReplyDeleteI have also noted some odd things prior to this.
I used to be able to change channels now all of a sudden I can't. I can shut it off & on & thats it, whats the matter.
ReplyDeleteMy Digitalstream DTX9900 converter almost always provides a good picture, but the audio cuts for a second or so every 5 to 10 seconds. This is hugely annoying. The signal strength meter is always in the green, usually at about 85 or above. Of course, the text on the signal strength meter says "Picture quality is good when meter level is green", but doesn't mention audio....
ReplyDeleteAlso having same problem with blinking green light. Worked fine for a month, and now the green light just flashes and will not turn on. Manual and website were no help. Anybody know how to fix or where to get help?
ReplyDeleteMy converter box stopped working - no signal last night.
ReplyDeleteThis morning the green light is blinking. I checked the manual and it means standby....
What happened and what should I do?

I suddenly have a large black square on my TV screen that appears to be entirely associated with the converter box. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteSame green light problem. It is solid green and the red light won't come on at all. The tv is stuck in analog and I can't even get to the menu. The remote works fine. HELP. Ann Stewart.
ReplyDeleteDitto on the blinking green light. The box doesn't respond to any controls either manually or the remote. This thing is not even 6 months old and is dead. What a POS. Digital Stream needs to step up and either replace these boxes or tell their customers what to do to make them work again. It seems like they just took the money and ran.....
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking DS thought who's gonna complain when they got the box for free? (meaning a coupon). First off, I paid full price for mine-$69. Second who do you think paid for all the "government" coupons? Think about it!
ReplyDeleteFor anybody that cares: I also experienced the 'dead' box with the blinking light syndrome. I repaired my own DTX9900. The problem with mine was a bad capacitor on the power supply. The cap in question is a 330uF 16v 105C capacitor and is located at the very front of the PS PCB. If you have rudimentary electrical knowledge you can fix your own, or find someone with experience to do this for you. You can buy these caps on Amazon, just do a search. If you know what a capacitor looks like then you will see one that has the little silver top bulged up and likely brown residue in the middle of the top. That one is bad.
ReplyDeleteJust because this was the problem with mine does not mean yours has the same problem. That being said, if it has the same symptoms then it is highly likely.
I need a remote for mine Any ideas where to get one or what universal remote will work with this box?
ReplyDeleteYou can buy a remote from radio shack i had to get on after i dropped mine. As for the blinking light I have the same problem with mine so I use the info off of Hals posting and looked in and sure enough the cap is bad it is expanded on the top looks like it has a belly and the other ones around it are flat so ill get a new one and put it on if it works ill let everyone know and ill take you step by step when its all done heres my email address if you are interested in the do it your self email me and ill send the directions on how to fix it right to you sammydabull27@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteyou can get a remote from radio shack for around 20 dallors
ReplyDeleteSomeone help me fix the green blinking light problem on my converter box so I can start using the converter box once again. email me at: cindy2490@hotmail.com Thanks, Cindy
ReplyDeleteSame problem. First red light was blinking. Tried to push the button on remote then the button on top of the dtv box. Neither worked. Tried again and then the green light starting blinking. Won't stop blinking. Now I have no TV picture, can't use dtv box, or remote control. Nothing responds. Can someone tell me what do to to alleviate this problem? Thank you.
ReplyDeleteJust checked other sites and we're are not alone. There are other folks with different DTV converter boxes that are experiencing the same problem. We have all been taken it and scammed. It's two days without my TV and the yellow light is still flickering and the remote doesnt' work to turn it off. Does anyone out there care? Does anyone have any answers.
ReplyDeleteWas working great but when I turned on this a.m. all i get is snow/static. Can not even get to the menu to scan, anyone have any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteI too have the green blinking light issue. Have these issues been addressed? Where can I find the help?
ReplyDeletedigital stream converter box just stopped working. green light just stays on, but the box is ineffective. The only thing i get now is a snowy static screen. Starting to believe that this whole digital conversion thing was simply to force everyone to pay for TV, I'm so annoyed right now.
ReplyDeleteLots of the same problems, like mine, but no resolutions. Do we take it back to the store or what? We got rid of our satellite to save money. We bought the box when the government sent out the coupons, but never used it. Now that we try to use it, it stops working after 24 hours. What do we do now?
ReplyDeleteI also have the problem with the remote. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. It always controls the TV but not the box. I tried another remote and it does the same thing.
ReplyDeletered light blinking can not get it to work. seems to be stuck
ReplyDeleteI could only change channels/volume but then I re-entered the TV codes. Now everything works except nothing happens when I press 'Menu.'
ReplyDeleteI can't add new channels.
I purchased the Digital Stream converter box and it stopped working. The green light just continues to blink. What can I do or where can I get help?
ReplyDeleteI finally got the remote to work
ReplyDeletecorrectly---but nothing I will do
will bring any tv channels on the
screen when I rescan or scan. I
believe it won't come off standby
so therefore no channels. What is
this mess! I also have an RCA and
not probs whatsoever! The light isn't
really red (standby) nor is it green
go figure! I have even tried using
the AV cords--still scans and gets
NO CHANNELS! Help
my digital stream 9900 box was working fine until this morning now i have snowy screen and little green light is blinking what is solution
ReplyDeletePiece of garbage. Stopped working after about a year.
ReplyDeleteHi i have a problem my box is just flashing a green light --the remote with good batteries does not turn off the box and with tv on theres no picture and itis set on ch 3 --both- and everything is hooked up right --so what im saying is with the tv on all thats happening is a flashing green light --any help would be appreciated /paul
ReplyDeleteI got two convertor boxes. My first convertor box started having the green light problem I would have to unplug/plug in the box until the red light finally came on then turn on the larger tv and use the power button on the box to turn on the TV. The tv finally gave up the ghost. Now the second box started with the same green light problem, no response with remote but again did the unplug/plug in trick and it worked today, but how long will it be before my smaller tv quits working altogether? Is this a means to sell advanced technology when the other was working fine?
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem with the blinking green light thing! Blew it out with air compressor (twice) still the same thing. Piece of junk. But before the blinking green light, there was no light at all because it just quit. Out one digital box.
ReplyDeleteBox belongs to a friend. She is 78 years old. Don't remember haveing a pen number. Problem is the box quits working. Some times it will let me reprogram or scan channels & works for a day or two then quits again. Today it will not pick up any channels at all. She normally gets about 14 channels. Tried a couple times & got nothing, removed power for 30 seconds & tried again, still no channels. Is the box dead or what can I do????
ReplyDeleteThanks
Roy
Box belongs to elderly friend. Quits working, looses all programing. Some times I can rescan or reprogram it & it works a day or two. No pin number to try & reset it. I have unplugged it for a few minutes & tried to rescan channels but no good. Is the box dead or is there something I can do???
ReplyDeleteRoy
I have two of the digital stream tv convertor boxes. One last about six months and the other one just died after one year of use. One has flashing green light and the other one doesn't have any light. It just went from a distorted picture with a green light and when I tried to turn if off manually I ceased to have any light. This is a poor quality product.
ReplyDeleteI just read the manual and haven't had the box for very long.
ReplyDeleteHowever, it did say to use channel 4 instead of channel 3 if 4 wasn't being used.
So I would suggest that those try channel 4 instead of 3 and see if that helps.
If the TV converter is blinking green most likely you have the "in" and "out" cable lines mixed up
ReplyDeleteI live in Connecticut. I almost ALWAYS seem to lose the EPG for Fox channel 61. I have to keep doing a new station scan to get it back. Any reason why?
ReplyDeleteMine just quit working in the middle of a tv show. The green light is solid, but very 'faded' looking.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else have this problem?
So is there a solution to the green light staying on/only static on tv? The remote does nothing and the box buttons are not working either. I see lots of complaints but no solutions. Have to buy a new one?
ReplyDeleteFor anyone experiencing a flashing green led the advice for changing the blown 330 ufd capacitor is excellent. Check your power supply visually for the blown capacitor.
