If you are an avid fishermen and are looking for a great vacationing spot for fishing then I highly recommend that you consider Gunnison, Colorado. Whether it be for lake fishing, fly fishing, or ice fishing Gunnison has a little bit of everything. Gunnison is well known throughout many circles as a wonderful fishing spot and attracts tourists from around the world each and every year.

Located just 30 miles west of Gunnison is the biggest hot spot for fishing in the area, the Blue Mesa Reservoir. Blue Mesa is the largest body of water in Colorado and was made possible by the Blue Mesa Dam. The Blue Mesa Dam was completed in 1965 as part of a package deal that addressed water rights issues and provided hydroelectricity to the area. In conjunction with the Dam the government also created the Curecanti National Recreation Area which encompasses the Reservoir and surrounding area. Blue Mesa in roughly 20 miles long, has nearly 100 miles of open shoreline and is the largest Lake Trout and Kokanee Salmon Fishery in the United States. Located about 40 miles north east of Gunnison is the Taylor Reservoir with the Taylor River emptying into the Reservoir and continuing downstream after the Taylor Dam and eventually emptying into the Gunnison River at the acclaimed Three Rivers Resorts (a great place for whitewater rafting trips). The Taylor River is known for its trout fishing including Brown, Brook, and Rainbow Trout. In fact, the Taylor River is a great place for finding some of the biggest Rainbow Trout in all of Colorado. Downstream where the Taylor meets the Gunnison the amazing fishing continues as the Gunnison winds south through the Valley, into the City of Gunnison and then takes a turn west as it opens up to the Gunnison River Canyon and eventually empties into the Blue Mesa Reservoir. Most of the Gunnison River flows through private property and is classic choice for a floating fishing trip anytime best May and November. Like the Taylor, the Gunnison is known for is fantastic trout fishing and anybody who chooses it is sure to have a blast.

Besides fishing the Gunnison area also has Crested Butte, which is touted as the last great ski town in Colorado and a wonderful place for summer mountain biking and hiking. Crested Butte has absolutely breathtaking views year round. during the summer you can go for a hike near the beautiful Maroon Bells, saddle up for a mountain biking trip on the famous 401 Trail, or if you are really active take a hike to Conundrum Hot Springs.

All in all there is really way to much to discuss in one post regarding the Gunnison area. This post is getting very long and I haven't even touched on the Gunnison National Forest, The West Elk Wilderness (known for its great Elk hunting), the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, or many of the other outdoors activities that can be partaken in such as white water rafting and rock climbing.

If you are interested in taking the vacation of a lifetime you should consider Gunnison, Colorado. You can come during the winter and enjoy some awesome ice fishing and skiing or consider the summer where you can fly fish in the Gunnison River, lake fish at Blue Mesa, and also hit up some of the most beautiful hiking and mountain biking trails in the country all in one vacation. With the digital transition having come and gone quite some time ago we felt it was appropriate to report on how converter boxes have been working out for people and the news is not great.

We have been getting comments daily telling us about how certain converter boxes are broken or rarely work properly and this is quite troubling to us. It appears as though a lot of these electronics companies just put a piece of crap converter box together without extensive testing and then produced as many as possible as quickly as possible simply to make some quick cash off the government. These companies knew that people were getting coupons that allowed them to get the boxes for free and that these coupons would expired before anyone could compile true long term performance tests on their converter boxes. The result is that a bunch of people ended up purchasing crappy boxes that aren't lasting for the long haul.

Unfortunately now many Americans are left with cheap, broken converter boxes that no longer work or only work half the time. As a result these people are being forced to go out an spend their own money on new converter boxes only to have them be the same cheap ones as before and have them break again. This is of course because demand for converter boxes has dropped greatly and it's really hard to find one of the good ones that is passing the test of time.

So the question begs to be answered then... What should Americans with these bad converter boxes do? The best solution we have is to save up your money and buy a new TV that has a digital tuner built into it. From the information that we have gathered we have concluded that the Jupiter Jack does work although not without flaw. While not the most robust or high tech it does do what is says it does however we have seen some negative comments regarding it. In the past the issue was related to the Jupiter Jack only having one radio frequency option (we were unable to confirm whether this was actually true but complaints made us believe that it was). If this was a problem it won't be anymore and we called Jupiter Jack personally to confirm this. Jupiter Jacks from the company now come equipped with the ability to be set on several of different frequencies so that you can be sure to find a frequency that doesn't already have a local radio station broadcasting on.

What Frequencies Can The Jupiter Jack Be Broadcasted On?

It is our understanding that new Jupiter Jacks comes with the ability to be set between 88.3 and 89.3 and also between 99.3 and 101.3. This range of frequencies gives all Jupiter Jack users plenty of options and allows them to find an unused frequency that will provide for clear reception and great sound quality. When we personally called the Jupiter Jack customer service center in order to have them clarify a few things for our review they did a great job. The wait time was about 1 minute and we spoke to a customer service representative that answered all of our questions quickly. She was be very knowledgeable, easy to understand, and didn't have any problems answering our questions.

Are There Any Drawbacks To The Jupiter Jack?

One negative we have been able to come up is the inability to have a private conversation with the Jupiter Jack. If you use the Jupiter Jack anyone and everyone in your car will be able to hear the conversation. We have also found out that Jupiter Jack doesn't work with "all" cell phones and rather only works with "most" phones. Other issues including being over billed and the Jupiter Jack not providing good sound quality. Another negative is that they don't give you an order total before you submit thee order. When doing an order you need to be sure you haven't messed anything up before submitting it or you will end up being charged extra and they will not refund the shipping charges once a product is mailed out.

What Is Dish Network?

Dish Network is a nationwide company that providers television viewers with paid satellite television services. With over 13 million subscribers it is the second largest satellite TV provider in the United States.

Another issue to check out is whether you have a clear view of the southern sky. If you do not then you shouldn't even bother getting satellite TV. This is a requirement for getting a good signal with any satellite TV provider. Without a good signal you will get bad reception and at times you may get no reception at all.

If you get Direct TV you need to be ready to deal with customer service agents that aren't not the most intelligent people on the planet. If you have any issues and have to call customer service you should be able to get your problems worked out but it may take a bit longer than it should because you may get an incompetent rep on the phone. In general Direct TV does a good job of dealing with most customer service issues. You however will see a ton of complaints on the Internet, partially because some people are idiots, partially because no company is perfect (Yes, Direct TV does make mistakes and has flaws in their system), and partially because they have over 18 million subscribers and there is no way you can keep everyone happy.

Vonage: Vonage is one of the largest VoIP providers in the United States and is a pioneer company within the industry. Vonage is known for providing high voice quality and above average customer service (when compared to its competitors). Vonage comes with more features that most smaller VoIP provider but also costs a little bit more. In regards to large VoIP providers Vonage prices are extremely affordable. One great thing about Vonage is that it can be used with a traditional phone or directly through your computer with a softphone application. If you are serious about getting VoIP but want an extremely reliable service then Vonage may be for you.

Magic Jack: magicJack is an interesting VoIP service and is quite different than most others. Magic Jack comes as a very small USB device that you hook into your computer on one end and then into your phone on the other end. Magic Jack has run into some service and customer support issues as of late but honestly what can you expect for less than $1.70 per month. Comcast Digital Voice: Although not technically a VoIP service Comcast Digital Voice is essentially the same. The only difference is that it runs on a dedicated server and is not transmitted over the public Internet. Comcast is one of the largest cable and Internet providers in the United States and is now consuming a huge portion of the land line telephone market. Comcast is known for providing reliable service but not for providing great customer service. With Comcast Digital Voice you will get a better deal that what you get with a traditional landline but it is also slightly more expensive than VoIP services such as Vonage. Comcast Digital Voice is a great choice for those that already subscribe to another Comcast service because it can quickly and easily be added to your account.

Time Warner Digital Phone: Time Warner Digital Phone is just like Comcast service in that it is not technically a VoIP service but is essentially the same thing. The only difference is that it is ran on a private dedicated Time Warner server. Time Warner Digital Phone is known for providing extremely high voice quality and extremely reliable service. Time Warner Digital Phone is slightly more expensive than both Vonage and Comcast services. There are equivalent alternatives that cost less than this service but it is still a cheap alternative to a regular landline.

Skype: Skype is one of the most widely known VoIP providers in the world. Skype is run exclusively through a software application and is not meant to be wired through a regular telephone. Skype not only provides VoIP services but is a standard chat service similar to Yahoo Messenger or AIM. With Skype you can make mostly free calls to other computers and calls to land lines and mobile phones for a fee. Qwest: Qwest is another one of the big VoIP providers and provides it's service at an excellent low price. Qwest is known for having a reliable VoIP network and providing great voice quality. In regards to TV antenna installation we are not experts because we focus mainly on the retail side of things. Despite this we have put together a short list of TV antenna installation tips that we feel will help you through the installation process.

It is however important to note that TV antenna installation can be quite dangerous and if you feel uncomfortable with the process you should always seek professional help.

Tip 1 - The Higher The Better

A general rule that is found with digital TV antennas is that the higher you mount it the better. UHF signaling is based on line of sight so the higher you mount your antenna the better. Getting it higher means that there is a better chance that there will be less objects obstructing the line of sight between the signaling tower and your digital antenna. If you live more than 70 miles away from the TV signal tower then you might have to mount your antenna very high by building some sort of tower to place it on.

Tip 2 - Outdoor Antenna Installation Is Better Than Indoor Installation

If you want to get the best reception and signal gain you need to get an outdoor antenna. This is because outdoor antennas can often be installed higher which means that they can get a better signal. UHF stands for ultra high frequency and was first used for television in 1952. When the FCC made UHF signals available for television channels they first dedicated 70 different channels to it but eventually switch 13 of these channels from television to cell phone use. Within the next several years more of the UHF band is going to be switched over from TV to cell phone use. At this time the UHF band will consist of channels 14-51. Most TV channels use the UHF band so it is important to get an antenna that can pick up UHF signals. It is also important to note that a lot of HD broadcasts are on the UHF band so it is good to get an antenna that picks up UHF signals if you are interested in HDTV.

VHF TV Antennas

VHF stands for very high frequency and these types of antennas are what we all know as rabbit ear antennas. Standard VHF antennas are very basic and serve little purpose in today's digital only television world. Update 1/18/10: magic Jack has canceled its plans for the femtoJack with its idea quickly being passed up by Apps that serve the same purpose.

If you liked or have heard of the Magic Jack then you have to check out the new femtoJack. The femtoJack is an all new telephone device that the Magic Jack makers, Ymax will be coming out with in the near future. The femtoJack is a femtocell device that will be used in a similar fashion as the Magic Jack. It is a small USB device that you hook up to your computer in order to connect a telephone to a VoIP network and route your telephone calls over a broadband Internet connection. The femtoJack is expected to be slightly bigger than the Magic Jack but function in the same manner and have the same magic Jack features. The big difference between the two however is that the Femto Jack is a femtocell which means that is it specifically designed to route cell phone calls over the Internet as opposed to landline call with the magicJack.

This innovation is a huge one for the Ymax Corporation and something that almost certainly will be one of the biggest selling products over the next few years. With the femtoJack, cell phone users should be able to get unlimited minutes when they are within range of their femto Jack and their calls are routed over the VoIP network. This should enable heavy cell phone users to significantly reduce their overall monthly phone bills and this could virtually end the need for a landline together. In theory, the femtoJack femtocell device essentially turns your cell phone into a landline when you are at home. Also, there is no need to worry about cell service or cell signals because you will be able to get perfectly clear service whenever you are in range of the femtoJack. So in effect, the femtoJack, and other femtocells, work sort of like cell phone boosters in the fact that they can give you perfect service in your home where you previously had cell signal problems.

If you are interested in getting a femtoJack then you will have to wait sometime. Although the idea is in the works and the technology has been develop there are still some issues to be dealt with. These hurdles include dealing with FCC regulations and working with major U.S. cell phone carriers on some sort of agreement.
